Ordered Lists

Ordered lists are numbered lists and they are designed for listing items in a specific order, but not for step-by-step instructions. (Use a procedure for step-by-step instructions).

Example of ordered list

For example, if you were describing a sequence of events that are performed automatically by software, you could use an ordered list. The information has a clear, sequential order, but it is not a procedure as the end-user does not have to perform any tasks.

Another scenario where you could use an ordered list is if you needed to present a list of the most commonly requested features. The numbers indicate importance or priority, but are not steps that need to be performed in order.

To create an ordered list, use the ordered list icon Ordered_list_small.png in the Editor's toolbar. For more details, see Create a List or Procedure.
