[en] Import Markdown

[en] Paligo can import Github Flavored Markdown (GFM). Since Markdown is only a loosely structured format, the import results can vary according to how well your Markdown is structured.

Anmerkung

[en] More information on the GFM spec can be found here.

Anmerkung

[en] It is possible to import Markdown files other than Github Flavored Markdown. However, results are most predictable with GFM.

[en] Single (nested) file, or multiple files?

[en] It is possible to import multiple Markdown files in the same compressed file (.zip). However, the folder structure when using multiple files has no bearing on the resulting import. Folder structure in Paligo after import will be fairly flat, and is only dependent on the heading levels used in the Markdown files, in conjunction with the Max folder levels import setting. Note that setting folder levels will not affect which topics will be created. That is determined solely by headfing levels in the Markdown file.

[en] To ensure the best and most predictable import results (also regarding link resolution), we recommend you consolidate all your Markdown content into a single large file, with heading levels, identifiers and relative links set correctly.

[en] More information on the import folder structure can be found in the Markdown import properties page.

  1. [en] Copy all of your Markdown content to a folder, preferably consolidated, otherwise

    Anmerkung

[en] You can copy the entire folder structure containing separate Markdown files, but a single large Markdown file is preferable.

  2. [en] Make sure all your images are contained in the folder, with the correct (relative) references to those images included in the Markdown file(s).

    Anmerkung

[en] Images that are not referenced in the Markdown file(s) will not be imported into Paligo.

  3. [en] Zip the folder.

  4. [en] Use the Import Wizard to import the content.

[en] Select GFM Markdown (.md) as the import format.
