[en] Ordered lists are numbered lists and they are designed for listing items in a specific order, but not for step-by-step instructions. (Use a procedure for step-by-step instructions).

[en] For example, if you were describing a sequence of events that are performed automatically by software, you could use an ordered list. The information has a clear, sequential order, but it is not a procedure as the end-user does not have to perform any tasks.

[en] Another scenario where you could use an ordered list is if you needed to present a list of the most commonly requested features. The numbers indicate importance or priority, but are not steps that need to be performed in order.
